1:00 p.m. Insect Songs - Cade Campell (9 participants maximum)

Join Cade Campbell in search of the fall chorus of Roan Mountain’s singing insects such as crickets, katydids and cicadas. In conjunction with an ongoing research project studying Roan Mountains’ diverse insect chorus, the group will be searching for and recording a wide variety of these insects.

Participant will seach meadows, forests and wetlands around the park and witness the process of capturing the fleeting melodies of our mysterious insects.

In addition to rallies, the Friends of Roan Mountain provides volunteer labor and grants to support Roan Mountain State Park and the U. S. Forest Service in their naturalist and environmental missions, as well as scientific studies and conservation and restoration projects on the Roan.
